Petaluma partners with Farming Hope to give with purpose this season

OAKLAND, CA, November 2, 2023 -- Petaluma, Inc., a pet nutrition startup dedicated to environmental and social sustainability, is proud to announce its continued partnership with the nonprofit organization Farming Hope for the third consecutive year. Commencing on November 22, 2023, Petaluma will offer a "gift with purpose" initiative and will donate the equivalent of one nutritious meal to a community member in need for each new customer order until the year's end.

In the words of Caroline Buck, co-founder of Petaluma, "The commercialization of the holiday season put pressure on everyone to buy more. Small businesses feel compelled to compete with larger retailers during the holiday season, typically commencing with a frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and deep discounts. Don't expect a big sale from Petaluma at the end of the year - we frankly don't think that makes much sense for an everyday essential like dog food. We're proud to try and our part by giving back to non-profit organizations close to our heart - and hopefully ones that resonate with our customers too."

Petaluma and Farming Hope both share affiliation with 1% for the Planet, a global network uniting businesses, nonprofits, and individuals in the fight against climate change while championing environmental solutions.

About Farming Hope

Farming Hope is a garden-to-table job training nonprofit committed to assisting formerly incarcerated or unhoused San Franciscans. The organization's paid Apprenticeship program empowers adults to transition toward personal well-being and sustainable employment. Apprentices prepare nourishing meals for food-insecure community members by utilizing high-quality reclaimed food that would otherwise go to waste in landfills. Unlike many direct service organizations that focus solely on immediate needs, Farming Hope takes a holistic approach, providing a structured path to self-sufficiency and community building. Their community-based model encompasses three core initiatives: well-supported job training and transitional employment, the provision of healthy and nourishing meals for food-insecure individuals, and a commitment to waste reduction through food recovery.
